Make this dish, now that tomatoes are in peak season, by selecting firm red tomatoes or even heirloom tomatoes for more added color and flavors. This Caprese Salad is so easy to make and impossible to get it wrong.
- 2 large (Hot House or Beefsteak) tomatoes, sliced into ½ inch slices
- Fresh basil leaves
- 1 (8 ounce) fresh mozzarella, sliced into ½ inch slices
- Olive oil (to drizzle)
- Salt, to taste
- Dried oregano, optional
- Place sliced tomatoes on a platter. Top each tomato with a fresh basil leaf and a slice of fresh mozzarella cheese.
- Just before serving drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and a dash of dried oregano.
